Robert Geoffrey Dunham

Andy and Jennifer Dunham of Rosenberg, Texas, announce the birth of a son, born Sept. 18, 2012. He weighed seven pounds, 15 ounces, and has been named Robert Geoffrey Dunham.

Grandparents are Larry Robert and Betty Sue Dunham of Richmond, Texas, formerly of Walnut Ridge, and Beth and Wayne Fonville of West Chester, Ohio.

Samuel Joseph Marlin

T.J. and Gretchen Marlin of Jonesboro have announced the birth of a son, born on Aug. 23, 2012, at St. Bernard's Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed eight pounds, 13 ounces, and has been named Samuel Joseph Marlin. He has one brother, Will, three.

Grandparents are Ron and Jayni Blackburn and Janet Marlin, all of Jonesboro, and the late Terry Marlin. Blanche Blackburn of Jonesboro is the great-grandmother.

Emmalyn Claire Rogers

Reid and Paige Rogers of Jonesboro have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, born on Aug. 23, 2012, at St. Bernard's Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed six pounds, 12 ounces, and has been named Emmalyn Claire Rogers.

Grandparents are Bryian and Tina Rogers and Steve and Teresa Burns, all of Jonesboro.

Great-grandparents are Wilma Rogers of Hoxie and Ernestine Morris of Guy.

Henderson ~ Catron

Joe and Rose Henderson of Walnut Ridge have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Rebecca Leanne Henderson, to David Catron, son of Mike and Becky Catron of Pocahontas.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Bud and Della Woodard of Walnut Ridge.

She is a 2012 graduate of Hoxie High School.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Roy and Margaret Hall of Walnut Ridge and Mary Boilen of Pocahontas.

He is a 2005 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School and is employed at Pocahontas Aluminum.

The couple will exchange vows in a double-ring ceremony on Oct. 6, 2012, at 3 p.m. at 1197 Wheeler Road in Ravenden Springs.

All family and friends are invited to attend.

Janice Brand

Janice Brand, 81, of Walnut Ridge, died Sept. 19, 2012, in Walnut Ridge.

Born Oct. 30, 1930, in Alicia, she was the daughter of Olen and Hazel Snedeker Harris. She was a lifetime resident of Lawrence County and a member of Hoxie Methodist Church. She had been a bank officer at Citizen's National Bank.

Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine Mansker, Walnut Ridge; two granddaughters, Sara Woodson and Hannah Mansker; a great-granddaughter, Cambry Woodson; and her companion of 30 years, William "Dub" Cagle, Pocahontas.

Private services and burial were under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Rachel Lilly Broadway

Rachel Lilly Broadway, 58, of Walnut Ridge, died Sept. 25, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born July 23, 1954, in Walnut Ridge, she was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and had worked at the Children's Colony in Jonesboro for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Sylvia Lacefield Hurst; two sisters, Teresa Parks and Eva Parks; a brother, Silas Hurst; three half-sisters and a half-brother.

Survivors include a son, David Hurst, Walnut Ridge; two sisters, Bess Wilson, Hoxie, and Esther Montgomery, Walnut Ridge; a brother, Zane Hurst, Walnut Ridge; and a grandson, Aiden Hurst.

Private services are under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Visitation is tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Helen Lucille Conrey

Helen Lucille Conrey, 88, of Walnut Ridge, passed away Sept. 15, 2012.

Born Sept. 24, 1924, at Maynard, she was the daughter of Sam and Viola Templeton Killough. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Conrey, on Aug. 10, 1984, whom she married Nov. 11, 1950; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Nettles.

Survivors include three sons, Sammy Lee Johnston, Jonesboro, and Harry Edward Conrey and Rickey Charles Conrey, both of Walnut Ridge; three daughters, Mary Ann Boothe, Walnut Ridge, Janice King, Hoxie, and Shelia Nettles, Alicia; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral is today at 10 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bros. Marion Stringer and Royce Schanda officiating. Burial will be in Whittaker Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Nettles, Jessie Walker, Dale Nettles, Harry Conrey Jr., Harry Conrey Sr. and Ernest Fry.

W.B. Davis

W.B. “Dub” Davis, 84, of Walnut Ridge, died Sept. 21, 2012, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born May 12, 1928, in Black Rock, he was the son of Charles Peck and Madge Forrester Davis. He was a millwright supervisor for over 65 years in construction. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War, and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Davis and Gene Davis; and a sister, Irene Crider.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Veal Davis, whom he married Oct. 13, 1951; a son, Paul Davis and wife Jeanne, Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, Forrester Davis and Dale Davis, both of Walnut Ridge, and Ronald Davis, Germantown, Tenn.; four sisters, Manon Tillman, Yvonne Ellison, Barbara Sue Hancock and Mona Hicks, all of Walnut Ridge; and a grandson, Daran Davis.

Funeral was Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Blackwell, Paul Davis and Mark Nicholas officiating. Burial was in Old Military Cemetery.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

Charlotte Owen Deaton

Charlotte Owen Deaton, infant daughter of John and Danna Scott Deaton of Manila, died Sept. 21, 2012, at the Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

She was born July 23, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Paul Deaton and Danny Scott.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Mary Scott Deaton; her grandparents, Rick and Charlotte Myers, Jonesboro, and Mary Lou Deaton, Manila.

Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Manila with Rev. Ferrell Duffel officiating. Burial was in Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.

Pallbearers were Michael Deaton, Randy Deaton, David Joe Deaton and Keith Deaton.

John F. Fitgerald

John F. Fitzgerald, 78, died Sept. 25, 2012, at Lakeside Nursing Center.

Born Sept. 16, 1934, he was the son of James and Mary McGovern Fitzgerald. He was a graduate of the McIntire School of Commerce and the University of Virginia. He was a bank executive for over 30 years and was a systems analyst with the Internal Revenue Service. He was a Korean War veteran and a member of the Meek-Johnston Post #6 in Pocahontas.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Jane Fitzgerald, Chicago; two sons, Gregory Fitzgerald, Lake in the Hills, Ill., and Mark Fitzgerald, Carpentersville, Ill.; and six grandchildren, Andrew Fitzgerald, Brandon Fitzgerald, Conner Fitzgerald, Shannon Fitzgerald, Lauren Fitzgerald and Kyra Fitzgerald.

Daniel W. Gall, 49, of Rockton, Ill., nephew of Delbert and Mary Gall of Walnut Ridge, died Sept. 13, 2012, at Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Elbert Gall, formerly of Hoxie. Melvin Andrew Goodson

Melvin Andrew Goodson, 83, of Walnut Ridge, died Sept. 22, 2012, at Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born Jan. 14, 1929, in St. Louis, he was the son of David Loren and Freida Lee Shannon Goodson. He was a former sub-deacon in DeSoto, Mo., and became an ordained minister in 1985, serving at New Apostolic Church in Springfield, Mo. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a truck driver for Sears for 11 years.

He was preceded in death by a son, Chester Goodson; and a brother, Robert Goodson.

Survivors include his wife, Dorlyn Mae Carver Goodson, whom he married Aug. 16, 1980; five sons, Melvin Henry, David, Mark Edward, Gary and Mark Allen; four daughters, Marlene, Andrea, Beverly and Pamela; 25 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Danny Hamilton

Danny Hamilton, 58, of Sidney, father of Beth Jones of Alicia, died Sept. 24, 2012, at his home. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Sidney Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. No visitation was planned.

George Wesley Keaton

George Wesley “Buster” Keaton, 84, of Hopkinsville, Ky., formerly of Walnut Ridge, passed away Sept. 22, 2012.

Born June 21, 1928, at Red Hill, he was the son of Jimmy Keaton and Molly Burnett. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He retired from the United States Army with over 22 years service as a Tactical Communications Chief. He was awarded five good conduct medals, the National Defense

Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with two stars and the Vietnam Cross of Galantry with Palm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Joe Keaton.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Phyllis Keaton, of the home; two sisters, Ruby Gilliam, Newport, and Nell Osborne, Jacksonport; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; a great-granddaughter; a special friend, Quentin Stone, New York; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at the Lorado Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lorado Cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home. Full military honors and Masonic rites will be given at graveside.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of the service.

Jeffery Michael King

Jeffery Michael “Thin Man” King, 49, of Pocahontas, died Sept. 19, 2012.

He was born May 15, 1963, in Rossville, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his father, G.L. King; and grandparents, Sam and Sarah Campbell.

Survivors include his mother, Brenda Posey, Imboden; and three sisters, Sherri Neighbors and husband Timmy, Imboden, Tammy Clements, Providence, and Shauna Rowley and husband Vernon, Judsonia.

A memorial service was held Friday at 7 p.m. at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas.

Johnnie Kay Lee

Johnnie Kay Lee, 75, of Cave City, died Aug. 31, 2012, at her home.

Born July 31, 1937, in Powhatan, she was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Kay Hatler; her parents, Elisha and Flora Bennett Ball; two brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Lenissa Richards, Charlotte; a brother, Thurman Ball, Birmingham, Ala.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. at Hopewell Cemetery at Cord with Mitch Bell officiating.

Willis Funeral Service of Batesville had charge of arrangements.

Myrna Sue "Bernie" Kizziar Renfroe, 72, of Tucson, Ariz., died Sept. 9, 2012, in Tucson.

Born Oct. 31, 1939, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of Milton and Muriel Kizziar.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Renfroe, whom she married in 1956; and her parents.

Survivors include three children, David, Gina and Scott, all of Tucson; a sister, Kathy Simpson, Walnut Ridge; and a brother, Tommy Kizziar, Cape May Court House, N.J.

Paul William Waller

Paul William Waller, 65, of Yellville, died Sept. 10, 2012, at his home.

Born Dec. 23, 1946, at Powhatan, he was a diesel mechanic and member of the Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Clare Dow Waller; a brother and a sister.

Survivors include a son, Robert Paul Waller, Clinton; a daughter, Stormie Dawn Tharp, Greenbrier; and his children's mother, Kathy Waller Clements.

George Robert Walter

George Robert “Bert” Walter, 84, of Hoxie, died Sept. 19, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born Sept. 12, 1928, at St. Joe, he was the son of George Amos and Sarah Elmer Churchill Walter. He worked as a depot agent for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad in Hoxie, Walnut Ridge and Newport, retiring after 41 years of service.

He was a member and past Worshipful Master of the Hoxie Masonic Lodge #692, a member and past Worthy Patron of the Charles Chapter #410 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Walter and Joe Walter; and two sisters, Ruth Cannon and Elaine Banta.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Janiece Rains Walter, whom he married Feb. 3, 1950; three children, Bob Walter and wife Kathy, Batesville, Diane Walter Midkiff and husband Phillip, Hoxie, and Jon Walter and wife Lesa, Walnut Ridge; six grandchildren, Eddie Walter, Sarah Walter Latus, Bill Midkiff, Sam Midkiff, Alissa Walter and Janie Walter; a great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Grace Latus; and his caregiver, Alleen Gates, Walnut Ridge.

Funeral was Friday at 10 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Harris officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Grandchildren served as pallbearers.
