ADH to hold mass flu clinic

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) will hold a mass flu clinic on Oct. 26 at the Lawrence County Health Unit, located at 1050 West Free Street in Walnut Ridge.

The clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is free to the public. Although the clinic is no charge, participants are asked to bring their insurance, Medicaid or Medicare cards.

The flu virus spreads through coughing or sneezing and by touching a hard surface with the virus on it, then touching the nose or mouth. The best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated every year.

Symptoms of the flu include fever over 100 degrees, headache, extreme fatigue, sore throat, muscle aches, dry cough, runny or stuffy nose and occasionally stomach symptoms such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
