volleyball at CRC
Sarah Manis, a senior at Hoxie High School, signed her letter of intent to play volleyball at Crowley's Ridge College in Paragould during a ceremony on Friday.
CRC coach Cindy Henry said Manis is an all-around player.
"She has a lot of speed, and she always hustles," Henry said. "She can pass, she can set and she can hit."
Hoxie coach Judy Goodwin said Manis is one of the best hustlers she has ever coached.
"She's got good hands and plays good defense and is just an excellent person to be around," Goodwin said.
Henry said in addition to her style of play, she has always been impressed with Manis' attitude.
"I really like her attitude - it will bring a lot to the floor," she said. "Along with her volleyball strengths, she's going to be a great addition."
Manis said she is excited to be moving on to the next level.
"I've always wanted to play at the college level, and I'm really glad that I'm going to get to," she said.
Manis gives a lot of credit to Goodwin.
"She is such a good coach and she has pushed me to my limits many times, but I'm really thankful for her pushing me to be the best player I could be," she said. "I believe she has prepared me to play at the college level."
Sarah is the daughter of Randy and Lesa Manis of Sedgwick and has a sister, Erika. Also on hand for the signing were her grandparents, Darrell and Frances Smith of Sedgwick.
