The Salem Greyhounds visited Sharum Gymnasium and came away with a pair of victories over Walnut Ridge in senior high basketball action on Thursday.
A cold-shooting night plagued the Bobcats as they dropped a 59-56 decision in the senior boys contest. The Greyhounds led 24-18 at the end of the first quarter, 40-30 at halftime and 51-43 after three quarters. Walnut Ridge closed to within one point in the final minute, but clutch free-throw shooting by the Greyhounds preserved the win.
Range Weeks led Walnut Ridge with 17 points. Zach Crisler added 14 points, and Hunter Flippo scored 10.
Salem's senior girls defeated Walnut Ridge 59-50, as Sidney Mitchum and Whitney Ward combined for 42 of the Lady Greyhounds points. Mitchum scored 22 points, and Ward added 20 for Salem.
Walnut Ridge was led by Allyson McQuay's 16 points, while Holly Looney added 14 points.
Walnut Ridge hosted 2A-2 opponent Cotter on Jan. 8.
The Bobcats won the senior boys game 68-55 on the strength of a 31-point performance from Crisler. Weeks added 15 points for Walnut Ridge.

Anna Bland led the Lady Cats with 15 points. Looney and McQuay chipped in 13 points apiece, and Ashlyn Cothern added 12 points.
Walnut Ridge won a junior boys contest 45-15.
