A generation to appreciateI have heard several people say in recent weeks that "they don't make them like they used to," when referring to our senior generation. It is fairly easy to think of people with strength, grit and resilience from the generation who lived through such events as the Depression and World War II.Two women who come to my mind have passed away in recent days. Tynse Bassett, who I believe was the ideal mother of three boys and grandmother of two grandsons, is one of them. Another is Orpha Murphy, who, similar to Mrs. Bassett, worked hard, took care of her family and always maintained high moral values.
Others put my mother, Virginia Bland, in that same category of being strong and resilient as she strives to overcome health issues. I would have to agree with them.
