WR concludes regular season

Walnut Ridge's senior high basketball teams enjoyed a successful week to wrap up the regular season. The Bobcat boys went 2-0 during the week, while the Lady Bobcats won two-of-three contests.

Piggott

Five Lady Cats scored in double figures as Walnut Ridge defeated Piggott 68-58 on Friday.

Walnut Ridge led 35-34 at halftime and 51-46 after three quarters.

Allyson McQuay led Walnut Ridge with 16 points. Anna Bland, Caroline Kelley and Hannah Massey each scored 13 points, and Ashlyn Cothern finished with 10 points.

The Lady Bobcats ended the regular season with a 12-12 record.

CRA

Also on Friday, the Walnut Ridge senior boys traveled to Paragould and defeated Crowley's Ridge Academy 61-41, behind a 26-point performance from Zach Crisler.

Walnut Ridge led 29-25 at halftime before outscoring the Falcons 21-9 in the third quarter to take command.

Range Weeks finished with 16 points, and Payton Poole added 10 points for the Bobcats.

The Walnut Ridge boys concluded the regular season with a 16-7 record. The Bobcats' next game will be on Friday in the district tournament at Pangburn against the winner of the Tuckerman-White County game.

White County

The senior high teams finished 2A-2 Conference play by hosting White County Central on Feb. 5.

The Walnut Ridge boys defeated the Tigers 61-33 to clinch second place in the 2A-2 conference with a 10-4 league record, as well as a berth in the regional tournament.

Weeks led the Bobcats with 18 points, and Crisler had 13 points.

The Lady Bobcats defeated White County 58-39.

Walnut Ridge led 12-7 at the end of the first quarter and 36-17 at halftime.

Massey led the Lady Cats with 17 points. Kelley had 13 points, and McQuay finished with 12.

Salem

The Walnut Ridge senior girls traveled to Salem on Feb. 4 and dropped a 72-57 decision the Lady Greyhounds.

Salem led 20-17 after one quarter and 37-29 at halfime. Walnut Ridge trailed just 52-49 entering the fourth quarter, but Salem finished strong, ending the game on a 20-8 run to secure the victory.

McQuay led Walnut Ridge with 22 points. Kelley finished with 13 points, and Cothern added 11 points.
