S-H to host regional tourney

Sloan-Hendrix High School in Imboden will be the host site for the Class AA North Regional Basketball Tournament Feb. 20-23. All games will be played in the Bill McCurley Gymnasium.

District 2A-2 and District 2A-3 will be sending their top four girls and boys basketball teams from the district tournaments to compete in the regional tournament.

There will be four games each evening, Wednesday through Friday, beginning at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 23, there will be two sessions. The first session will feature consolation games beginning at noon for senior girls and 1:30 p.m. for senior boys. The second session will be the regional championship games, which will begin at 6 p.m. for senior girls and 7:30 p.m. for senior boys.

Ticket prices throughout the regional tournament will be $5 for ages five and up, as set by the Arkansas Activities Association.

"We look forward to hosting the Class AA North Regional Basketball Tournament at Sloan-Hendrix, Supt. Mitch Walton said. "It will be a great four days of exciting basketball competition.

"We hope that basketball fans from throughout the surrounding area will come to the Bill McCurley Gymnasium to watch some of the best basketball talent in Northeast Arkansas. The season is winding down and the best teams in our area will be competing to advance to the state tournament."

The top four teams from each regional tournament will advance to the Class AA State Tournament, which will be hosted by Marmaduke High School.
