Stacey Morris, Walnut Ridge Airport's engineer from ETI Corporation in Memphis, attended the airport commission's meeting on Monday at noon. Commissioners voted on the airport's new Capital Improvement Plan for 2013, which continues rehabilitation on the ramp and taxiways.

Commission chairman Dan Coker informed commissioners that more good things are being said about the airport on the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association website. Pilots who have visited the airport have been very complimentary online following their visits to the Walnut Ridge airport.

Fly-Ins have been scheduled for April 5-6, when the airport will celebrate its 71st birthday and hold its 15th Annual Air Field Reunion. Another fly-in will be held April 9-12.

In other business the commissioners:

  • learned that the Arkansas Airport Operators Association Conference will be held Sept. 15-17 in Eureka Springs.

  • were informed that Coker, Morris and Airport Manager Michelle Anthony will attend the Department of Aeronautics Meeting in Little Rock today to close out the airport's last project for 2012.

  • learned that fuel sales are down at the Walnut Ridge Airport but that most airports are reporting the same drop in sales.
