Kelsi Janice Doyle

Randy and Amanda Doyle of Black Rock have announced the birth of a daughter on Feb. 21, 2013, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed six pounds, 13 ounces, and has been named Kelsi Janice Doyle.

She has three older siblings, Kortni, eight; Maci Jo, three; and Blaine, 17 months.

Grandparents are Michael and Becky Durham of Smithville and Van and Janice Doyle of Lynn.

Great-grandparents are Martha Ann Durham and Jo Tolbert, both of Smithville.

Olivia Marianne Owens

Frank and Brandi Owens of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of a daughter on Feb. 25, 2013, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed eight pounds, two ounces and has been named Olivia Marianne Owens.

She has an older brother, Max Owens, who is two.

Grandparents are Richard and Carol Owens of Sedgwick and Norma Tillman of Walnut Ridge and the late Tom Tillman.

Great-grandmother is Imogene Jaskey of St. Louis.

Thacker ~ Rogers

Chris and JoAnn Beller of Batesville and Darian Thacker of Calamine have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Ashtin Faith Thacker, to Jonathan Walter Rogers, son of Ellis and Karen Rogers of Batesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Darrell Thacker and Ella Thacker, both of Smithville, June Jones of Jonesboro and Larry and Barb Wells of Eatson. She is the great-granddaughter of John Wells of Eaton.

She is a 2012 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and is employed at White River Medical Center in Batesville as a registered nurse.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Marie Rogers Kidd of Little Rock and Johnny and Dorothy Daniels of Roland.

He is a 2012 graduate of University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton and received a degree in surveying. He is employed with Garver Company in Little Rock.

The couple will exchange vows in an outdoor ceremony on Saturday at the Beller farm.

Mildred Hibbard

Mildred Geraldine Hibbard, 92, of Wilton, Calif., died Feb. 25, 2013, at her home.

She was born July 14, 1920, in Randolph County, to Homer and Anabel Baker Going

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Milford Hibbard on Jan. 20, 1987, whom she married Jan. 14, 1938, in Walnut Ridge; and two sisters, Nola Going Story and Nadine Going Lemmons.

Survivors include three sons, Homer Milford Hibbard, Wilton, Calif., Ronnie Hibbard and Duane Hibbard, both of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Vesta Winters, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Bill Hibbard, O'Kean and Leon Hibbard, Walnut Ridge; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was March 1 at the LDS Church in Sacramento, Calif. Burial was on March 4 at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto, Calif.

Paul E. Lyle

Paul E. Lyle, 77, of Cambria, Ill., died March 6, 2013.

Born June 7, 1935, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ruia and Ruby Lyle; and a brother, Gene Lyle.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Mae Dean Lyle; six children, Kathy Evans, Danny Lyle, Kelly Lyle, Becky Collins, Amy Courter and Jennifer Morgan; a sister, Anna Connor; a brother, Bill Lyle; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital Burn Center in Little Rock.

Gene McCormic

Gene McCormic, 79, of Hoxie, died March 12, 2013, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Nov. 19, 1933, in the Fender community, he was the son of Neil and Clara Rosselot McCormic. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Byron Eugene McCormic.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Wanda Milligan McCormic; three children, Wendell McCormic and wife Sandra, Portia, Beverly Spencer and husband Mickey, Bay, and Leslie McCormic and wife Kelly, Imboden; a sister, Joyce Williams, Ravenden; five grandchildren, Justin McCormic, Jeremy McCormic, Eric Swartzlander, Seth Swartzlander and Macy McCormic; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral is Friday at 10 a.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. David Harper officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Justin McCormic, Jeremy McCormic, Eric Swartzlander, Seth Swartzlander, Don Alls and Terry Spradlin. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughter, Macy McCormic and great-grandson, Hunter Eli Swartzlander.

Visitation is Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church at 301 Northwest Seventh Street in Walnut Ridge.

Joseph Oliver

Joseph Oliver, 82, of Imboden, died March 12, 2013, at his home.

Born June 23, 1930, at Ravenden, he was the son of Lenard and Thecla Seridan Oliver. He was a heavy equipment operator and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Judie Booth, Ancona, Ill., and Sue Anderson, Ottawa, Ill.; a brother, Ralph Oliver, Aurora, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Aaron Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service.

Alice Poteete

Alice Marie Jones Poteete, 87, died Feb. 27, 2013, in Walnut Ridge.

She was born Aug. 16, 1925, in Plummerville to Rev. G.E. and Faye Crotchett Jones and had lived most of her life in Lawrence County. She was a 1944 graduate of DeSoto, Mo., High School and married Gunner's Mate 3rd class Raymond Poley Poteete in Morrilton on Aug. 19, 1945.

She graduated from Arkansas State University LPN School in 1964 and earned an ASN degree in 1974. She moved from Jonesboro in 1966 and retired from Lawrence Memorial Hospital in 1987. She was an organist and member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Raymond P. Poteete (1987); her parents; Rev. G.E. and Faye Jones; a son, Raymond Lloyd Poteete; daughters, Karen Cravens Barker and Alice R. Findlay; step-great granddaughter, Macy Moyers; son-in-law, Frankie Cravens; brothers-in-law, J.N. Farish and Ruben Whitley; two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include sisters, Loleta Farish of Bella Vista, and Mary Whitley of Jonesboro; a daughter-in-law, Jana Poteete of Hoxie; sons-in-law, David Findlay of Baytown, Texas, and Michael Barker of Bay; grandchildren, Melinda Kauffman of Conroe, Texas, Chad Harvey of Baytown, Texas, Tyna Bennett of Bono, Thomas Poteete of Fanning Springs, Fla., and Jennifer Poteete of Hoxie; great-grandchildren, Marcus and Amanda Marroquin of Conroe, Texas, and Brayden and Jaelyn Bennett of Bono; several step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were Sunday, March 3, at 1 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Morrilton with Joel McMasters officiating under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Visitation was Saturday, March 2, from 5:30-8 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Pallbearers were Thomas Poteete, Mike Barker, Nathan Bennett, Jacob Mondy, Marcus Marroquin and Chad Harvey.

Patsy Swartzlander

Patsy Swartzlander, 63, of Ravenden, died March 1, 2013.

Born July 2, 1949, she was the daughter of the late William and Clara Biby.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Biby; and a brother, John Biby.

Survivors include her husband, Leo Swartzlander; two sons, Andrew Swartzlander and Samuel Swartzlander, both of Ravenden; a daughter, Elizabeth Woolard and husband Justin, Cherokee Village; a brother, Pete Biby; a sister, Mary Pendagrass; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday, March 5, at 1 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church in Ravenden. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Taylor-Cox Funeral Home.

Shirley Turbyeville

Shirley Charlene Turbyeville, 71, died Friday, March 8, 2013, at her home with her family by her side.

Born July 9, 1941, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of Thomas and Lottie Pulliam and lived most of her life in Lawrence County. She was owner and operator of a fabric shop for many years in Pocahontas and Walnut Ridge and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ray Turbyeville; her parents, and one brother, Jerry Pulliam.

She is survived by a daughter, Pam Wilcoxson (Bill) of Walnut Ridge; a son, Scott Turbyeville (Rhonda) of Portia; one brother, Terry Joe Pulliam (Wilda) of Jacksonville; three sisters, Billye Holder and Georgia Holder, both of St. Louis, and Peggy Dame (Buel) of Walnut Ridge; eight grandchildren, Elaina Rodriguez (Adrian) of Edmond, Okla., Thomas Turbyeville (Chloe) of Springfield, Mo., JaneŽ, Alison and Kevin Turbyeville of Portia, William Wilcoxson (Courtney), Eric and Anna Wilcoxson, all of Walnut Ridge; one great-grandson, Joel Rodriguez of Edmond, Okla., and one great-grandchild on the way.

Visitation was Saturday, March 9, from 5-8 p.m. at the House-Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge with Bro. Mark Harris officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Thomas Turbyeville, William Wilcoxson, Eric Wilcoxson, Adrian Rodriguez and Matt Schutzius.

Anna Lois Wilson

Anna Lois Wilson, 79, of Walnut Ridge, died March 11, 2013, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born Sept. 12, 1933, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of Willie and Munice Ellen Frye Smith. She was a homemaker, waitress and member of the White Oak Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, James Wilson; a grandson, Jim Palmer; and a sister, Imogene Marlin.

Survivors include two daughters, Lou Ellen Massey and husband Linden of Republic, Mo., and Cindy Wilson of Sedgwick; a son, Wick Wilson of Hoxie; a brother, Darrell Smith and wife Maxine of Michigan City, Mich.; a sister, Naomi Marlin of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, Becky McLaughlin, Stacy and Troy Owens, James and Magan Wilson, Samantha Wilson and Vickie Collins; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by the Bryan Funeral Home.
