Bobcats are county champions

The Walnut Ridge Bobcats defeated Hillcrest 12-0 in the championship game of the 2013 Lawrence County Baseball Tournament on Saturday at Stewart Park.

Walnut Ridge starting pitcher Layne Ditto struck out 10 of the 14 batters he faced in the four-inning contest. He allowed one hit and walked one.

The Bobcats scored one run in the first inning, five runs in the second inning, four in the third and two in the fourth.

Lady Cats claim county title

Walnut Ridge's Lady Bobcats captured the championship of the 2013 Lawrence County Softball Tournament on Saturday at Stewart Park. The Lady Cats defeated Sloan-Hendrix 11-2 in the title game.

Mustangs beat Osceola

The Hoxie Mustangs edged Osceola 7-6 in 3A-3 Conference baseball action Friday at Osceola.

Hillcrest beats Hoxie

Hillcrest defeated Hoxie 8-7 in high school baseball action on Thursday at Strawberry.

WR enjoys winning week

The Walnut Ridge High School baseball team enjoyed a successful week on the diamond. In addition to winning the Lawrence County Tournament on Saturday, the Bobcats recorded five wins earlier in the week.

Hart signs with Williams baseball

Hoxie High School's Seth Hart will be playing baseball at the college level for a coach he is quite familiar with.
