Thompson will seek re-election

State Senator Robert Thompson (D-Paragould) announced today his intention to run for re-election to the State Senate in 2014.

"I am proud to represent Northeast Arkansas in the State Senate, and I hope to continue fighting for our people and our communities," Thompson said. "I've been honored by the encouragement to seek higher office from my community and friends across Northeast Arkansas and the entire state. But there is still much work to be done in the legislature on issues facing our region, our state's economy, the state budget and our education system that are critical to our future."

As chair of the Senate Public Retirement Committee and Senate Lottery Scholarship Oversight Committee, Thompson has been an active leader on economic, financial, budgetary and educational issues facing the state.

Thompson represents State Senate District 20, which includes Lawrence, Clay and Greene counties, the city of Pocahontas in Randolph County and the city of Brookland in Craighead County.

"I have a young family and right now I want to focus on them, helping the people of our district and moving our state's economy forward." Thompson added. Thompson and his wife, Tori, have three children, Cross, Henry and Victoria, ages 12, 8 and 4 respectively.
