Portia Picnic underway
The 108th annual Portia Picnic began yesterday and will continue through Saturday, with attractions all week provided by Miller Spectacular Shows Inc.
Portia Mayor Jerry Sienknecht visits the Portia City Park where carnival attractions are set up for the Portia Picnic this week.

Armbands can be purchased in advance at Portia City Hall for $15 or on the carnival grounds for $17 during the picnic. Advance tickets for Saturday must be purchased by Friday.
The carnival opens every night at 6 p.m. through Friday, and at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Nightly entertainment at the Portia City Park pavilion continues tonight with Dan Duncan at 6 p.m.; Bottom of the Barrel Boys, Thursday at 6 p.m.; Lauren Richmond, Tyler Ogles and Calamity, Friday at 6 p.m.; and PartyTime Productions, Saturday at 5 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring lawn chairs to the shows.
There will be a $50 cash prize awarded to an audience member at the end of Friday night's show. Participants must sign up between 6-7 and be present to win.
The traditional baby show will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the pavilion.
The show is for babies 12 months and younger and the contest is casual dress. No entry fee will be charged and registration will begin at 3 p.m.
In case of rain the contest will be moved inside the old school building.
