Court to review comp time policy

Megan Heyl
Staff Writer

The Lawrence County Quorum Court shared concerns about the current comp time policy at its meeting Monday night. A specific area of concern was in the sheriff's department.

Some employees have built up comp time to more than 100 hours according to reports. The court decided that no payments for comp time are to be made until after reevaluation is complete.

Justice Jim Jones stated that hours need to be distributed to other employees to allow those with excess comp time to use it.

The discussion was tabled until the next meeting. The court will review time sheets, comp time allowances and the employee handbook. Sheriff Jody Dotson and Attorney Dick Jarboe will be requested to attend next month's meeting.

Also at the meeting:

  • Judge Dale Freeman announced that the county received an additional $25,000 from Arkansas Rural Development to go toward the shooting range. Freeman said that they will look into receiving bids after the winter months.

  • Freeman received approval to look into getting new chairs for the courthouse conference room.
