High school basketball action involving county schools during the past week included the following results:
BR - CRA
The Black Rock junior and senior high basketball teams traveled to Paragould Saturday to face Crowley's Ridge Academy in 1A-3 East Conference action.
Caleb McKenzie and Elijah Mondy each registered a double-double to lead Black Rock's senior boys to a 69-40 win over the Falcons. River Ferguson came off the bench to added nine points.
The senior girls contest was an overtime thriller, with CRA prevailing 56-49.
Erica Bass led Black Rock with 20 points, and Caylia Ervin added 10 points.
Natalie Cox scored 16 points to lead the Black Rock junior girls to a 27-20 victory.
CRA won the junior boys game 49-39.
Clayton Augustine led the junior Zebras with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Hoxie - Southside girls
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs dropped a hard-fought contest to the Southside Lady Southerners 44-39 in the quarterfinals of the Kell Classic Friday at Swifton.
Krista Vankirk scored 11 points, while Courtney Sears and Brandy Alls each added 10 points for Hoxie.
The Westside Warriors outscored Black Rock 29-2 in the third quarter en route to 73-24 victory over the Zebras on Friday at Westside. Westside also won a junior boys game.
The Hoxie Mustangs dropped a 63-53 home contest to the Manila Lions in 3A-3 Conference play.
Tristan Sisco had 14 points, and Alex Carpenter scored 11 points for the Mustangs.
Walnut Ridge's senior boys fell at Rector 54-31 on Friday.
Rector led 25-17 at halftime and 40-26 at the end of the third quarter.
Martin Crisler scored 11 points to lead Walnut Ridge.
The Hillcrest defeated Midland 54-34 senior boys action at Lynn. Midland prevailed in the senior girls game 65-52.
Hoxie - Osceola girls
The Lady Mustangs defeated Osceola 41-26 in 3A-3 senior girls action at Hoxie.
Hoxie led 12-8 at the end of the first quarter before outscoring the Lady Seminoles 15-2 in the second period to pull away to a 27-10 halftime advantage.
Hoxie also won a junior girls game.
Manila defeated Black Rock 62-43 in senior boys action on Jan. 7 at Manila.
The Zebras played a tough first quarter to trail only 14-12, but a 17-8 run in the second period gave the Lions a 31-20 lead at intermission. Manila stretched its lead to 50-34 at the end of the third quarter.
Derek Nunally led Black Rock with 13 points, while McKenzie added 12 points.
Manila won a junior boys game 68-27.
The Marked Tree Indians swept the Walnut Ridge boys on Jan. 7 at Sharum Gymnasium.
Marked Tree won a senior boys game 63-56 and a junior boys contest 30-27.
