Stewardesses to share
their Beatles story

One of the most anticipated events at this weekend's Beatles at the Ridge festival is the appearance of two stewardesses who were on board the Electra II airplane during The Beatles' 1964 North American Tour. These stewardesses, Bettie and Eva, will tell their personal story of their time with The Beatles.

That event is scheduled on Friday, from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. at The Studio on Main Street. Their interview will be videotaped as the two sit down to tell their story with author Jude Southerland Kessler and those in attendance.

Pictures of the Past

This photo of John Lennon going up the ramp onto The Beatles' airplane at the Walnut Ridge Airport after returning from a weekend in Missouri is one of several taken by Newell A. Mock Sr. on the morning of Sept. 20, 1964. The red suburban that George Harrison and Paul McCartney rode back in from Missouri can be seen in the background. The annual Beatles at the Ridge festival, which commemorates the 1964 visit, will be held this weekend in downtown Walnut Ridge. (Pictures of the Past is a cooperative effort of The Times Dispatch and the Lawrence County Historical Society. Readers are encouraged to submit historic photos.)
