honors Johnny Davis
Walnut Ridge native Johnny F. Davis was among four distinguished ROTC alumni who were inducted into the Arkansas State University Department of Military Science Hall of Heroes on Saturday.
The honorees were inducted at the ASU Military Science Building before the Troy State Football game and were recognized again on the field during the game.
A-State ROTC pays tribute to the ROTC alumni who have distinguished themselves through heroic service, government service and outstanding representation of the university.
Davis, a 1963 WRHS graduate, earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from ASU in 1968. He was honored posthumously for his service.
He was killed in action on June 14, 1969, during the Vietnam War.
Other honorees included: retired Capt. Dr. Mark D. Diggs, who earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1970, retired Lt. Col. Judge Keith Blackman, who earned a bachelor's degree in general business in 1971, and 1st Lt. Coach Ronald C. Meeks, who earned a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1978.
