Public figures to be
locked up for charity

Several local public figures have volunteered to spend the first night at the new Lawrence County jail in the "Lawrence County Citizen's Arrest Fundraiser."

A donation box will be available in the county clerk's office for each public figure. Citizens can make a donation for the public figure they'd most like to see locked up for the night. The three that raise the most money will be "arrested" for the night.

Those up for arrest are County Judge John Thomison, Sheriff Jeff Yates, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Cooper, State Rep. Fran Cavenaugh, Justice Junior Briner, Ravenden Police Chief Tim McComas, Hoxie Police Chief Glen Smith, Walnut Ridge Police Chief Chris Kirksey, Black Rock Police Chief Duston Walker, Chief Deputy Tony Waldrupe, District Judge Adam Weeks and County Clerk Tina Stowers.

Jail open
house set

Money will be counted on March 6 and the top three will be announced the same day during the jail's open house. All money collected will go to local charities.

Gov. Asa Hutchison will be guest speaker that afternoon at 3:30 with ribbon cutting to follow. Tours will be available all day.
